Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate

Depart Marrakech and drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2,260m), stopping at panoramic viewpoints and Berber villages. Visit the crumbling yet majestic Kasbah Telouet and enjoy its faded grandeur and intricate tilework. After exploring the cinematic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, continue to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight in a charming riad, once a key stop for Saharan trade caravans.

Day 2: Ouarzazate to Dades Gorges

After breakfast, visit the scenic Skoura Oasis and the historic Kasbah Amridil, a well-preserved example of southern Moroccan architecture. Drive through fragrant valleys and traditional rose distilleries in the Valley of Roses, especially lively in spring. End your day in the Dades Gorges, where you can walk along the river or relax while watching the sunset over the rust-colored cliffs.

Day 3: Dades Gorges to Erg Chebbi

Explore the narrow roads and spectacular rock formations of the Dades Gorges before continuing to the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges. Take a short hike along the gorge floor, where sheer limestone walls rise dramatically above you. After lunch, pass through Erfoud to visit fossil shops or the subterranean khettarat water system before heading to the dunes of Erg Chebbi for a sunset camel trek and magical night in the desert.

Day 4: Merzouga to Midelt

Watch the sunrise over the dunes and enjoy breakfast before returning by 4x4. Begin the drive north, passing through the ancient market town of Rissani and the lush palm groves of the Ziz Valley. Admire the changing landscapes as you ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains, reaching the peaceful town of Midelt, known for its apple orchards and mountain air.

Day 5: Zagora to Marrakech

Depart Midelt and travel through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you might spot wild Barbary macaques in the trees. Stop in Ifrane, a European-style mountain town known for its clean streets and alpine architecture. Arrive in Fes by late afternoon and conclude your tour with drop-off at your hotel or riad in the heart of the medina.
